K-12 Technology Website
Executive Summary
This Tech in K-12 website was done for my Teaching with Tech in K-12 course from my M.Ed. in Education Technology. This website has twelve different sections/pages. Each page represents a week or two from the course work. Each week you would learn about the subject of the section and then add a page on the website that went over this material. The Introduction page provides a technology statement and introduces and gives you an overview of the website. The Networks and Hardware page provides a screencast on networking and YouTube video "Computer Networks: Crash Course. The Educational Software page includes a screencast on "Educational Tutorial Software", a screencast on "Educational Gaming Software" and a YouTube video "Educational Simulation Software". The Social Networking page gives a video presentation on "Social Media in Education" and YouTube examples of Social Media sites for education and other resources. The Internet Safety page has a video presentation "Internet Safety in Education" and three YouTube videos on internet safety. The Internet Teacher Tools page offers YouTube videos on various teacher tools available online. The Assistive Technology page has accessibility videos for Mac, PC, and Chromebook. The rest of the website includes a Excel spreadsheet lesson and technology integration pages for science, social studies, ESL, and music.
Personal Reflection
The development of the website above the website above helped me learn the Weebly platform for building websites. As discussed above the pages on this website were built week by week through detailed discussions of each topic. The networks and hardware section was based on different types of networks and hardware, understanding the needs, and managing networks and hardware in K-12 schools. Educational Software section was on instructional software, simulation, games, and different productivity software tools that can be used in educational instruction. The Social Media section discusses different ways to use social media in instruction, how to use it safely, policy trends, blogging platforms, and various resources for social media in education. Internet Safety, Internet Teaching Tools, and Assistive Technologies are all sections giving detailed discussions, examples, and resources of all three of those topics. The last parts of the website that were developed are technology integrations by subject. I was able to pick the four subject areas that I wanted to work with and discuss. I went with the subjects of science, social studies, music, and ESL (English as a Second Language). Each integration section discusses different uses of the internet, software tools, instructional software, and teacher productivity software that can be used in instructional educational settings.
